The Governor of Pennsylvania is out of his mind

His name is Tom Corbett, and he's suing the NCAA.  He claims that his state has been unfairly harmed by overly harsh sanctions imposed on Penn State University from the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal.  While it seems a bit of a stretch to infer that an entire state might be damaged because of penalties given to one school's football program, that's not even the point.  Even if he's right; even if somehow he has a case and legally he could win, he's still a moron for doing it.  This is one of those things you're not allowed to fight against.  The University isn't part of the lawsuit, they've accepted the punishment.

Not only that, but it seems like a horrific thing to do from a PR/political standpoint.  I can't imagine it's going to go over very well in the court of public opinion.  My guess is bringing this story back into the spotlight and dragging it through the mud will probably be a lot more damaging for him and his state than the NCAA's sanctions.  Even if he wins he loses.

  1. Wasn't this governor on PSU's Board of Regents while all this "stuff" was going on?
His middle initial might be CYA.

And re. your posting a few days ago:
My son-in-law-to-be enjoys giving me gag gifts -- this Xmas was a T-shirt saying, "I am not lazy. I am physically conservative."
An earlier one was a bit more blunt: "I'm retired and you're not. Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah."

Oh, and what did you think Of Jason Collins flat-footed 12-footer tonight?

  2. So do you forget things you used to know? haha. I was at the Garden last night, seeing that Collins jumper was shocking in all respects.

  3. I was thinking you were probably at the game even as I was typing -- so you missed Scalabrine's debut on NBATV.

What's your take on Cousins? I'd steer clear despite the obvious physical gifts.

Is it even possible to realize one has forgotten things one used to know? Maybe when realizing 50 or so pages into a book, "Dang, I've already read this!"

    Happy New Year,

  4. I did not know Scal was on NBATV. I see him on CSNNE a bunch though, he's pretty good. I hate all the Cousins rumors, in my mind either Bradley or Sullinger might be just as good (and less of a headache) as him, let alone trading both to get him.

And my mom tells me she does that with books all the time.

Admittedly I have too, once or twice...
