On August 5, David Ortiz launched career home run No. 487. With 54 games remaining, even though his season pace suggested he wouldn't,
I figured Ortiz was a very good bet to hit No. 500 this year.
As it turns out,
he only need 33 of those 54 to get it done--going deep once every 2.54 games (including one he sat out).
With 34 homers on the season, Papi needs just two more over Boston's final 20 contests to eclipse his highest total (35) since he crushed 54
back in 2006.
